Shanghai University (SHU) is an international comprehensive university located in one of the world’s most international metropolis. It offers a wide range of programs to international students in 27 different departments.

Campus Environment

Shanghai University has two campuses accommodating international students: Baoshan Campus (the New Campus) and Yanchang Campus. You are welcomed on both of the two campuses generally, yet a majority of undergraduates are supposed to study and live mainly on Baoshan Campus according to their course arrangements.

Baoshan campus has: indoor basketball court, basketball court, gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis court, football field, table tennis room, palaestra, gymnastics room; Yanchang campus has: indoor basketball court, basketball court, volleyball court, swimming pool, football field, tennis court.

The BA program of the International Economics and Trade is a four-year program established on the fundamental economics and emphasizes on the theories, policies and operation of international economics, international trade, and overseas investment in the global economy.

Career Plan

Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills in Chinese, and are thus warmly welcomed by large multinational corporations, trade companies and financial departments in China, as well as the home countries of the students. There are also some graduates working for family firms and are committed to their business relations with China.

Dormitory

Baoshan Campus is at 99 Shangda Road. It has three International Student Apartments accommodating up to 659 students. The apartments are managed professionally and maintained in perfect habitable condition, with security guards at work.

Extracurriculum Activities

Shanghai University organize the International Cultural Festival every year for international students to experience diverse cultures from different countries. There are also plentiful college associations from sports to dancing.

Medical Guide

1. Students with international health insurance may go to the designated hospital.

2. When emergency medical help is needed, you can contact the front desk staff or the counselor teacher of the International Student Affairs Office.

3. Shanghai University School Hospital is established on campus. You can register and see a doctor with your student ID card.

1. What about its ranking in China?

Shanghai University is a research-intensive and comprehensive university and a member university of the national “211”project. It ranks 20th among 1129 universities in China.

2. Is the university located in the downtown?

Among all campuses of Shanghai University, Baoshan Campus is the nearest one to downtown. It takes about 30 minutes to the center of Shanghai.

3. Can I get to the university ahead of time?

One week check-in before semester begins is allowed. But you are not suggested to come earlier than one week in fear of no available dormitory for you and can’t apply for the resident permit.

4. How should I pay the tuition fee?

You need to pay the tuition fee yearly and no installments.

5. Is there any airport pick-up service?

Yes, the service fee is RMB400 as normal. For group pick-up (more than 3 students), the university will provide this service for free.
