Xiamen University Scholarships
Introduction  

Xiamen University (XMU), founded in 1921 by Tan KahKee, the renowned patriotic leader of overseas Chinese, was the first Chinese higher-education institution established by an overseas Chinese. XMU is the only university in China’s Special Economic Zones that enjoys privileged support from both the national “211 Project” and the “985 Project”. XMU is recognized as a first-class national institution of higher learning with an international reputation as a center of scholarly excellence. Fujian Provincial Government Scholarships for International Students (partial scholarship)  

Fujian Provincial Government set up this scholarship in 2012 to finance international students to study inFujianin an undergraduate, master's or doctoral program. The scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, cost of course materials, etc.

(1) . Eligibility:
Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

  • Applicants for undergraduate studies must hold a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.
  • Applicants for master's studies must hold a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
  • Applicants for doctoral studies must hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

(2). Application Procedure:
Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the undergraduate, master's or doctoral programme ofXiamenUniversity.   • 1. Applicants shall fill in the Application Form for Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship (click to download)   and then sign the form.
  • 2. Applicants are required to make online application at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn/application  . Please download and print the  Application Form for International Students generated after successful online application.
  • 3. Submission of application documents: Send by post to XMU Admissions Office by the indicated deadline the two forms and other required application documents.

(3). Application Time:  
Feb. to May 20th

(4). Result Release Time 
July- August. A list of scholarship nominees will be submitted by XMU Admissions Office to the Department of Education of Fujian Provincial Government for final approval.

CSC-University Postgraduate Program (full scholarship)  

(1) . Eligibility:

  • 1. The scholarship is to sponsor master's or doctoral candidates. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens who graduate from or are to graduate from universities outside China(or at least one year after graduation from Chinese universities).
  • 2. Applicants with their last degree to be obtained in China wish to carry out their master's or doctoral studies in China.
  • 3. Applicants for master's degree studies shall have obtained a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
  • 4. Applicants for doctoral degree studies shall have obtained a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

(2). Application Procedure:
Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the master's or doctoral programme of Xiamen University. (The guidance for admission application is available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn : How to apply for master's / doctoral programmes )
Note: This scholarship is not available to students applying for Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL) and their native language or in a third-country language such as English or French.  

  • 1. Applicants shall make online application at  http://laihua.csc.edu.cn (Agency No. of Xiamen University at CSC: 10384) and download and print the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship and then sign the form.
  • 2. Applicants are required to make another online application at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn/application  and then download and print out the Application Form for International Students generated after successful online application.
  • 3. Submission of application documents: Send by post to XMU Admissions Office by the indicated deadline the two forms and other required application documents.

(3). Application Time:  
 Feb. - March

(4). Result Release Time 
Mid-June. A list of scholarship nominees will be submitted by XMU Admissions Office.

Xiamen  University  Scholarships for New International Students (partial scholarship)  

XMU offers scholarships to doctoral, master's and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 3 -4 years for doctoral programmes, 2-3 years for master's programmes, 4-5 years for undergraduate programmes). Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master's or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships.

Mid or late July. Scholarship decisions will be made by XMU Admissions Office together with the relevant schools /colleges. The Admissions Office will then submit a list of scholarship nominees to the university for final approval.
